Dengue virus, caused of Dengue fever, transmitted by the mosquito, Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, are widely distributed throughout the tropical and subtropical areas of the world. There are four known distinct serotypes (dengue virus 1, 2, 3 and 4). It usually follows symptoms of headache, fever, prostration, severe joint and muscle pain, swollen glands and rash.
Dengue NS1 (non-structural protein1) is a highly conserved glycoprotein that is essential for the viability of Dengue virus and is produced both in membrane-associated and secretory forms by the virus. NS1 antigen is present at high concentration in the blood of dengue virus-infected patients during the early clinical phase of the disease, and is found from Day 1 and up to Day 9 after onset of fever in sample of primary or secondary dengue-infected patients.
The IgM become detectable on Day 3 to 5 of illness in case of primary dengue infection and persist for 2 to 3 months, whereas IgG appear by the Day 14 and persist for life. Secondary infection shows that IgG rises within 1 to 2 days after onset of symptoms, simultaneously with IgM antibodies.

Antibody IgM Nampak pada hari ke 3 – 5 dalam kasus pasien terjangkit pertama kalinya dimana IgM akan bertahan dalam kurun waktu 2- 3 bulan; Antibody IgG akan tampak pada hari ke 14 dan bertahan seumur hidup. Pada infeksi kali kedua, IgG akan meningkat dalam 1-2 hari setelah paparan, bersamaan dengan antibody IgM.
